| So, this is the last season for the Closer. However, reading this interview by Kyra Sedwick really reminds me of what's missing in Bones - and probably network tv in general. Network had better take notes and start thinking. The Closer and Rizoli & Isles have BOTH hit 8million viewers on basic cable. Bones was hitting under that this fall, and frankly isn't doing a ton better now. GOSH, IF NETWORK TV started going for that kind of quality, they could probably have even bigger numbers! Furthermore, being that the numbers are respectable enough for a show with crappy writing to stay on the air, isn't it worth risking a well-written show? (Apparently not on Fox. They dropped ChicagoCode to pick up The Finder. ) Then they're the way they are going to launch the Closer spin-off. I will certainly be taking a look at it - unlike The Finder. NETWORK TV - TAKE NOTE! http://www.tvline.com/2011/05/kyra-sedgwick-leaving-the-closer-interview/#more-220068 |

| I am a little saddened that this is the end and of course part of me wishes it could go in forever, but all good things must come to an end .
Seven years is a long time for a show, even though it doesn’t seem like it because it’s only a summer show. I’d rather the show end on their terms and know it’s the end so they can wrap things up and end it how they want rather than finishing season seven with hopes for season 8 and getting canned instead
As for the spinoff I will watch it, Captain Raydor has grown on me over time and I cannot wait to see how they integrate elements and characters from the closer into the new show and give it its own story.

| This is part of another Variety Article on Actors, Awards and Procedurals (definitely worth a read! Variety ROCKS! ) http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118037868?refcatid=14 | Quote: | "People tend to dismiss procedurals when it comes to actors because this part of the law franchise is considered mainstream entertainment, and mainstream entertainment doesn't hack it when it comes to the awards," he says.
At the same time, Duff does concede that under the right circumstances, a strong procedural performance -- like the one delivered by Sedgwick -- can stand out because of the nature of the product.
"You have to give Kyra a lot of credit for holding the audience's attention and keeping them in their seats when the show ends with her in a room seated at a table talking for 12 minutes," he says. "Other shows have violence and special effects to keep people in their seats. She is the special effects." |
Really nice commentary on Sedgwick! Also, a very interesting point. How often do we get to SEE Emily do her thing unless it's something like DitP?

| Now, after watching it at least 3 more times, I need to rant. It was the best friggin' season premiere! There was everything: interesting case, unexpected plotlines, fascinating character developments, tension-tension- tension aaaaaaaaand lots of kisses and a love scene. _________________ A Bones Forum admin never sleeps, he's just on maintenance...A random current thought about the show: unfortunately, I didn't forget Season 6. |

| I really, really like The Closer and the premier was very good, the only problem I have with it, I can only see an episode once, maybe twice before it becomes boring. |

| Wow. This episode was VERY good and VERY powerful. AGAIN! Damn, how do they do it?! Every friggin' new episode only gets better than the previous one. Unbelievable! INCREDIBLE!!! What a shame that this is the last - even if prolonged - season of the show. (They already decided to do a spin off with Mary McDonnell called "Major Crimes". I assume, I will watch it, too.)

| I dislike that character, so I won't be following the spin off . One thing the US should change...no more network tv / cable tv...just regular tv |

Shameless plug I started a The closer/ Major Crimes fan board due to pure boredom! Check it out here http://sbweb.proboards.com/index.cgi Pass it on to others that you think will like to join, I do not intend to take posters from the TNT site this is for those who love the show and want to discuss it with other and chat about other things. It is a bit spase now _________________ Intelligence doesn't determine so much what you do as how effectively you do it. Brennan
